UMG and ElevenLabs Partner to Launch AI Music Platform

Music industry giant Universal Music Group (UMG) continues to strengthen its position in the artificial intelligence sector. The company has signed a multi-year partnership and licensing agreement with AI technology developer ElevenLabs, under which a brand new music platform is planned for launch.

As reported by The Verge, the project's primary goal is to give users access to UMG's officially licenced music catalogue. Using this database, users will be able to create remixes, mashups, and reimagined versions of well-known songs.

Voluntary artist participation

One of the key details of the new initiative concerns artists' rights. According to UMG, artists will have full freedom to decide for themselves whether to include their music catalogue in the ElevenLabs-powered platform. This approach aims to protect creators' interests and ensure the ethical use of AI tools.

ElevenLabs is known for its advanced technologies specializing in AI voice and music generation. For UMG, this deal represents another major step forward in its artificial intelligence strategy.

UMG's AI strategy

It is worth noting that Universal Music Group is actively collaborating with the tech sector. The label is currently developing another AI music platform in parallel through a partnership with Udio. In addition, UMG has already signed AI licensing agreements with prominent companies such as Spotify and Nvidia.
