Saudi Arabia Enters the EV Market With Radical New Designs

Saudi Arabia, a dominant force in the global oil market, is shifting gears toward automotive manufacturing. As reported by The Verge, local startup Ceer has unveiled two new electric vehicles defined by their radical, angular, and space-age designs. Known as the Exobot series, the models evoke the aesthetic of futuristic films such as Tron or Blade Runner.

A Futuristic Vision and Future Plans

The newly presented sedan and SUV models feature "gullwing" doors, giving them an unconventional appearance. While Saudi Arabia is traditionally known for fossil fuel extraction, Ceer’s ambitions extend far beyond these initial two models. The company plans to expand its lineup with five additional electric vehicles by 2030.

Notably, the production of these vehicles is being carried out in partnership with Foxconn, providing the startup with significant technological backing. Commercial sales of the Exobot series are scheduled to launch in the Saudi Arabian market in 2027.

Although the project is currently focused on the regional market, it serves as an interesting indicator of how oil-producing nations are attempting to diversify their economies and join the global electric vehicle trend.
