Huawei Adopts Samsung Privacy Tech for New Mate XT 2 Smartphone

Huawei has launched its latest trifold smartphone, the Mate XT 2, in the Chinese market. As reported by The Verge, the device's design and technical specifications suggest the Chinese tech giant drew direct inspiration from Samsung.

Unlike the first-generation Mate XT, which utilised an accordion-style fold that left parts of the screen exposed, the new Mate XT 2 employs an inward-folding mechanism. This design bears a striking resemblance to the construction of Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold, making the device more durable and practical for daily use.

Furthermore, Huawei has introduced privacy-protecting screen technology for the first time. This feature allows users to shield on-screen information from prying eyes. Notably, Samsung introduced a similar solution in its flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra earlier this year.
