According to BleepingComputer, cybersecurity researchers have uncovered a large-scale scam operation dubbed DoppelCart. As part of the scheme, attackers are using more than 119,000 domain names to create a massive network of fake online stores designed to steal users' bank card details.
How the DoppelCart scheme works
The fraudulent network is built to mimic legitimate e-commerce stores as closely as possible. By relying on over 119,000 domains, DoppelCart successfully attracts vast numbers of internet users who input their financial information on these fake platforms while attempting to purchase goods.
Once a user enters their card information, the scam system steals their payment details, including the card number, expiry date, and security codes.
